Fountain in Kharkiv

One of the main attractions of Kharkiv is located in the Garden n.a.T.Shevchenko. In 2015 the fountain was renovated under the patronage of ROSHEN Corporation.

The first fountain in the Garden n.a.T.Shevchenko in Kharkiv was built back in 1935. In 1965 it was redesinged and transformed into the first light and music fountain, which became unique for Ukraine. The ceremonial opening of the reconstructed fountain was held on the occasion of the Town Day on August 23, 2015. Kharkiv City Council was the initiator of the project on the fountain reconstruction, while ROSHEN Corporation provided sponsorship.

It took less than two months to renew technological equipment, install a lighting and sound system, and deploy fountain management software. In addition, the project involved the overhaul of the concrete bowl, replacement of the granite cladding and redevelopment of the surrounding area.

In summer, the fountain is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The splendor of the fountain is emphasized at sunset time, when you can fully enjoy a spectacular show of light and music. The program of the fountain show consists of world classical compositions: overture from the operetta “The Bat” and the waltz “On the Beautiful Blue Danube” by Johann Strauss II, and overture from the opera “The Marriage of Figaro” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

In winter the fountain turns into an ice installation. The best time to enjoy the sight of the ice sculpture is evening when it is illuminated from within and looks like a bizarre fantasy creature. So, regardless the season, the fountain in Kharkiv is worth seeing with one’s own eyes.
