Certification

Production facilities of Roshen Confectionery Corporation
have been certified in accordance with ISO international standards of foodstuff quality and safety

According to ISO 9001:2000 international standard, product quality is defined as a degree of customer's satisfaction from the product and services, with all consumer's requirements claimed met and expectations satisfied.
According to ISO 22000:2005 international standard, product safety is defined as the assurance that the product in question, when consumed according to its intended use, will not prejudice the consumer.
Meeting requirements set forth in ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 22000:2005 international standards assures the consumer that the company is able to produce safe foodstuff of the quality claimed.
The Certificate of conformity proves that the company in fact meets the requirements established in these international standards.
In 2005, based on its customers' wishes, Roshen Confectionery Corporation took a strategic decision upon confirming its ability to reach a high degree of consumers' satisfaction from confectionery produced by Roshen Ukrainian Confectionary Corporation.
Having made a lot of efforts in 2005, Roshen saw the year of 2006 in with Certificates of ISO 9001:2000 accreditation for four Ukrainian confectionary plants affiliated into Roshen Corporation.
Leadership in the market is the Roshen strategic goal; therefore, in 2006, the Corporation set a task to confirm that Ukrainian Confectionary plants comply with ISO 22000:2005 international standard based on ÍÀÑÑÐ (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principles.
ISO 22000:2005 international standard establishes requirements to the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) that covers the whole production chain: accepting and storing raw produce, preparing semi-processed goods and producing finished commodity, storing and delivering finished commodity to the consumer, with the safety foods risks controlled at all the stages of the production process.
When developing and introducing FSMS, Roshen Corporation set the leading experts of its confectionary plants a task to carry on a detailed analysis of risks that may occur at the production process stages.
As a result, the potential points where hazardous factors can arise have been analyzed and defined, and a system of management arrangements developed to reduce the risk of arising those hazardous factors up to an acceptable level.
The management arrangements effectiveness can be confirmed by means of their validation and verifications.
It is pertinent to note that introducing FSMS has required:
- instructing plants personnel in ISO 22000:2005 standard fundamentals, with each plant employee instructed in FSMS principles and personal employees responsibility for the production process safety stressed;
- investing reconstruction of the production facilities, fitting with additional process and laboratory equipment to meet additional requirements concerning personal hygiene and industrial sanitation, to avoid foreign objects from getting to confectionary, and chemical and biological pollutants from contaminating it.
The decision to invite an independent and competent auditor was made when Roshen experts had been made sure that the risks of arising hazardous factors were controlled and reduced up to an acceptable level. Veritas Certification Bureau, an international organization, has acted as auditor of FSMS at the Ukrainian confectionary plants.
In March 2007, based on the results of certification audits carried out at four Roshen confectionaries, Veritas Certification Bureau awarded certificates of conformity with ISO 22000:2005 international standard requirements to Kiev-based Karl Marks confectionary plant, Vinnitsa-, Kremenchug-, and Mariupol-based confectionaries. The ceremony of certificate awarding was accompanied with additional congratulations on the occasion of Roshen Corporation being the first company in Ukraine to prove its ability to meet the ISO 22000:2005 international standard requirements.
