Kiev confectionery K. Marx factory is one of the eldest enterprises of Kiev. Founded in 1886 by a merchant Valentine Efimov, a factory was a half-homemade enterprise with a production volume about 200 tons of confectionery per year. Up to 1890 5 basic workshops joined the factory: caramel, candy, fruit jellies, cake and fruit-cooking, and a number of employee amounted to about 70 persons.
In 1923, in honor of the 105th anniversary from the date of birth of Karl Marx, his name was given to the confectionery factory. During 1918 - 1940 technical reformation of production workshops allowed to multiply the manufacture of confectionery up to 32,8 thousand of tons per year at a number of employee 3400 persons.
In 1956 master of biscuit workshop Konstantin Nikitovich Petrenko developed compounding of the cake "Kievskiy". And already more than 50 years “Kievskiy” cakes are manufactured at the factory strictly on the given compounding and, a cake has unchanging success of the buyers.
Presently the assortment of enterprise includes more than 100 names of confectionery, among which chocolate, candies, cakes, baking, fruit jellies. Cake “”Kievskiy” and candies "Vecherniy Kiev" are a business card not only of Karl Marx confectionery factory, but also of the Ukrainian capital itself.
In 2000 on Kiev K. Marx confectionery factory was launched the Italian line for production of crackers, with a capacity of 1 t per hour. In 2001 modern, fully automated German-Italian lines for production of chocolate candies with the liqueur and cream fillings were installed at the factory. In 2002 on these lines production of new series of chocolate candies in boxes "Margaret" and "Monte-Kristo" was started. And in 2004 a factory on new German-Italian lines began production of exclusive chocolate candies "Variety Show", "Renoir", "Roshen Truffle", "Baroque", "Versailles" in boxes. In 2006 a new Italian line on production of two-layer shortcakes with a cream layer "Smuglyanka" , "Idiliya" and etc was launched. During two last years on a factory a modern area of production of chocolate masses, equipped with a complete set of the most front-rank automated technological equipment of the Swiss producer, was purposefully created, as a result up to the end of 2006 Kiev factory presented a long-awaited gift to the true amateurs of chocolate, launching production of the elite slab chocolate Roshen Classic.
On an enterprise a system of quality is developed and introduced. In 2005 Kiev confectionery factory was certificated by the international quality management system ISO 2001:2000. And from March, 2007 Kiev factory was awarded with a certificate of conformity to the requirements of the international standard ISO 22000:2005.
